Horsemanship Program and Graduates

Beginning in 2004 Eagle Creek Equestrian Center started a Horsemanship Program. The program consists of 10 levels that riding students work their way through. Each level consists of riding skills (proper form, use of the aids, etc) and non-riding skills (such as cleaning tack, horse nutrition, etc). Students work through the levels at their own pace and are tested when they think they are ready. If there are skills that they still need to work on, they are allowed to work on those and retest as many times as needed. When they pass a level, they receive a certificate. This program allows students to see what they should be learning and to set goals for themselves. It is also an excellent way for the instructor to document each student's progress. The end goal of the program is to produce a horseman/woman that is competent in riding and caring for horses on his/her own.

Congratulations to Audrey Barge! Audrey is our first Level 10 graduate! Audrey is competent in both English and Western disciplines. She competes in Halter, Showmanship, Western Pleasure, Western Horsemanship, Trail, Barrels, Poles, English Equitation, English Pleasure, Hunter Under Saddle, and Hunter/Jumper classes. We are proud of you Audrey!
